VINTES' HOLE-IN-ONE

SoundOff Excerpt - 1981

Garnet Vintes, a member of the Fort Meade Golf Council and President of the Aesop Robinson Golf Association scored a hole-in-one on the Fort Meade Parks course recently. Vintes hit a seven iron from the par-3, 158 yard, eighth tee to the green about ten feet in front of the flag stick. The ball then continued to roll falling into the hole for his first ace.

The ace was the first scored at Fort Meade this year according to Bob Novak, golf professional. James (Gus) Guydon, head basketball coach at Morgan State University, was Vintes' playing partner. The Fort Meade 1981 Golf Season officially opens April 11 with a "Blind Bogie Tournament" beginning at 7:00 a.m.
